it’s official – he retired!

Boston Scientific lobby.

After 23 years at Sci-Med/Boston Scientific and a total of 34 years in supply chain – first 7 years at Allen Bradley (now Rockwell Automation) in Milwaukee and then 3 years at Rosemount (now Emerson Electric) in Eden Prairie – the “Supply Chain Guru” as he has been called, has moved on.

On Thursday, Matt, Chad’s most recent boss hosted an open house at the plant in Maple Grove and an offsite event later in the evening for everyone to say goodbye. There was great food and drinks and so many people. It was so much fun for me to finally meet and put faces to the names that I have heard for so many years. I was also very excited to finally get to tour the plant! When Chad was at AB and we were dating, his mom and dad came for a visit. He took them on a tour of the AB clocktower, which is a landmark in Milwaukee. We had only been dating a short time so I wasn’t invited…and until the day before the end of his career, I’ve never been invited to tour any of the 3 plants!! I’ve dropped the kids off several times, for take your kid to work type days, but never got to come in. It was eye opening for me to see him in his element. I could see the pride and joy he felt working for the company. He enjoyed every job he had and the friends he made, but his real passion really showed with BSC. Chad loves the purpose of the company and how they help save lives. Chad’s dad had stents put in 27 years ago and then open heart surgery the next year, so BSC’s mission spoke to him in many different ways. The number of people, across the globe, that have led longer, fuller lives because of the BSC devices is incredible. Thank you to everyone at BSC that influenced Chad’s professional life over the years.

The next day, our financial planner Mitch and I had a small party at Crave in Eden Prairie for some close friends and family. Thank you Mitch for helping us get to this point!! Chad was so happy that so many people that he cares about were able to take time out of their busy lives to help him celebrate! Thank you for all the thoughts and excitement! I heard from many, that the food was fantastic, I hardly had time to eat any of it myself! We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to this next chapter of our lives! Thank you all!!

We are so grateful our kids were able to be with us for this weekend too! Thank you to my brother Greg, who Gr-Ubered us everywhere and thank you to Chad’s parents for advising us for so many years and being our inspiration on life.
