Sunday June 19
We started the trek home. The weather in Jackson was very grey and chilly, which showed us a totally different kind of scenic beauty! The drive was long and not real eventful – other than lots of scenic views. We had planned to head north and travel thru Yellowstone. It was still closed due to the recent flooding so we had to figure out something else. Whenever we travel, I always grab all the “tourist” brochures and love to read about what to do and the history of area. I found an ad for “Wyoming’s Hot Spot” east of us – we were kind of intrigued! Even if some of the reviews were not great…Chad reserved a campsite for us at the Fountain of Youth – a campground that had a huge natural hot spring pool. The reviews were correct worth a stop for the pool but somewhat run dow
Some of the vistas we saw on the way to Thermopolis
The town of Thermopolis is a little NW of Casper. It isn’t a big town, but people have been coming here for centuries for the healing properties of the hot springs. Many claim that soaking in the springs cures almost any ailment…even paralysis! There were hiking trails and a herd of state monitored buffalo in the park.
